Elderly Man: What is Elder Abuse

Wyoming resources

"Since Wyoming is one of the most rapidly "aging" states in the country, and may be (per U.S.
Census Bureau projections) the second "oldest" state in the United States by the year 2030, there is
a clear challenge [...] to meet the changing
needs of a growing and diverse population of elders." (WDH, Aging Division – Four Year State Plan, 2006-2010)

In Wyoming, during 2001, Adult Protective Services received 215 complaints of abuse and neglect. Of these, 67 were substantiated. Neglect was the most frequently reported abuse allegation (36%), followed by self-neglect (29%), physical abuse (20%), exploitation (10%), and sexual abuse (1%).
